Data Recovery Software – What to do when data loss occurs

The data loss is a panicking situation that generally occurs without any warning. It can even cause damage to our data stored on the hard drive when there are no settings changed by us in the operating system or BIOS. In such cases, we can use the Data Recovery software to get the lost data back. Whenever the data loss takes place, for effective and easy recovery you need Data Recovery software.

The data loss situations cause loss of business critical information. The data has to be retrieved from your system to avoid the business from coming to a stand still. The Data Recovery software will surely help you in the following situations:

Accidental deletion of critical business or personal files

Hard drive formatting

File system corruption

Operating system corruption

Virus attack

Software malfunction

In any of these situations, you may not be able to access your precious data from the hard drive. In such cases, to gain access of your data, you are required to thoroughly scan your hard drive using Data Recovery software.

The Data Recovery software are different for every computer operating system and file system. For example, if you have lost data from Windows hard drive that is formatted using NTFS file system, then you need to go for a Hard Drive Recovery software that supports recovery from Windows operating system and NTFS file system.

Most of the Data Recovery software comes equipped with interactive and self descriptive user interface. To perform Hard Drive Recovery using these software, you do not need to have any sound and prior technical knowledge. Data Recovery software is read only in nature and thus keeps your valuable data unaltered and intact. They do not perform any write operation to the hard drive.

Windows Partition Loss When You Use Complete PC Restore

If you own Enterprise, Ultimate or Business editions of Windows Vista operating system, then you can have access to “Complete PC Backup and Restore” feature. It enables you to make backup images of computer hard drive so that you could perform the system-wide restore if your system fails.

This feature allows users to not only recover their stored data and applications, but also the whole operating system onto existing or new hardware. The restoration using this feature must be done in Windows Recovery Environment.

Creating backup of your precious data is the best way to prevent data loss situations and Complete PC Backup and Restore is the best option for Vista users to do so. But sometimes, while restoring data using this method, you may face data loss and partition loss situations.

When you restore your computer using Complete PC Restore tool in Vista and use the “Format and repartition disks” option, all the dynamic disk volumes are removed and then recreated.

This process takes place even if your dynamic disk volumes aren’t included in the restore process. In this case, if your backup is not current, then you will lose your precious data that was stored after creating last backup.

Cause

You face this behavior of Windows Vista as the ASR (Automated System Recovery) process restores disk volume configuration to match it to the one which was included in backup set. When users use Format and repartition disk option, Automated System Recovery deletes and then re-creates all disk volumes.

You can avoid this issue by removing the dynamic volume that you do not want to include in the restoration process. Another option is not to use Format and repartition disks option if your disk volumes haven’t changed since Complete PC Backup was created.

But if you have already formatted and repartitioned the disk volumes and now experiencing partition data loss, you need to go for Partition Recovery to get your data back. Partition Recovery is done by using third party utilities known as Partition Recovery software.

Converting TFS Volumes to NSS Volumes Using VCU cause Data Loss in Novell

VCU or Volume Copy Upgrade is a volume conversion tool that is provided with late versions of NetWare like NW6.5 Service Pack 7. It converts TFS (Traditional File System) volumes to NSS (Novell Storage Services) volumes.

The conversion is basically done for getting benefits of larger volume size, instant loading and updated tools. It can convert both user data as well as system metadata. It moves the traditional volume to NSS pool and all the files and directories of volume remain intact.

Although, VCU is useful for converting traditional volumes and getting advantages of advanced features of NSS but it also has some disadvantages and risks of data loss. These are as follows:

1 It is not “in-place” conversion of volumes. It needs free hard drive space for new NSS volume, equal to or larger than the size of data on traditional volume. It is just a copy utility and it doesn’t perform any conversion.

2 For traditional volumes, VCU doesn’t migrate deleted.sav folder and deleted files it holds to new NSS volume. Deleted files are basically purged. If you wanted to restore some files, you can not do it after conversion.

3 Converted NSS volume might get corrupted if other applications were accessing the volume during conversion.

In case of NSS volume corruption, you may face severe data loss problems. You need to go for Novell Recovery to overcome these issues.

An automated, easy, safe and quick Novell Partition Recovery needs powerful and highly developed third party Novell NetWare Recovery software. These software effectively scan your affected hard drive and extract as much data as possible from it.

Real Media file corruption

Real Media (RM) files are usually used as a combination of Real Audio and Real Video files. These RM files can get corrupted due to various reasons such as virus infection, application corruption etc. Once these RM files are corrupted, the user encounters problems like partial or complete video/audio loss. To recover the lost RM file, the user needs to use effective File Recovery Software.

For instance, a RM file stored on the hard drive gets damaged due to virus infection like W32/Realor.worm that modifies all of the Real Media files it detects. The user views that the icon of the RM file has been changed. After double clicking on the icon, the RM file does not execute. This means that the RM file has been affected badly by the virus. To resolve the above issue and recover the lost RM file, the user can recover the RM file from the most recent backup. But if the user has not maintained any back up, then he needs to use a third party recovery application known as File Recovery tool. Such File Recovery Software incorporates powerful scanning algorithms to recover all kinds of files and folders. These File Recovery applications provide interactive user interface, which makes these applications easily understandable.

Corruption Messages When You Access NTFS Partition

When you attempt to access an NTFS file system based Windows partition, you might encounter any of the below mentioned error messages in Microsoft Windows Explorer or at command prompt:

Internet Explorer

F:\is not accessible.
The disk structure is corrupt and unreadable.

F:\is not accessible.
There is not enough space on the disk.

Command prompt

C:\>F:
The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable.

C:\>F:
There is not enough space on the disk.

During boot process, you may also encounter the following error message, if the damaged volume is boot or system volume:

“Stop 0x0000007B (0x00000000, 0xC0000032, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
Inaccessible_boot_device”

If you run Chkdsk against corrupted volume, the process completes without any error and no modifications are made. This behavior makes your partition inaccessible and puts you in need of Partition Recovery.

Cause

This issue takes place because NTFS partition has a damaged or invalid record in either $LogFile file or in the $UsnJrnl file. Both these files are the internal files of NTFS that are used by NTFS only. Chkdsk doesn’t check the integrity of these files. Chkdsk make sure that only MFT (Master File Table) has entries of these files and the entries are valid.

In such critical situations, the only option to recover your lost Windows partition is to perform Partition Recovery. An organized, absolute and safe Partition Recovery needs a powerful and highly developed Partition Recovery Software.

When you start your computer, you may encounter the following error message on the screen and your system won’t be able to boot:
“A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to preventdamage to your computer. The problem seems to be caused by the following file:
partmgr.sysPAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Technical information: *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xF89424AB, 0x00000000, 0xF8942424AB, 0x00000000) *** partmgr.sys - Address F89424AB base at F8940000, DateStamp 00000000”
After this error message, you can not boot your system and thus can not access your data.
Cause
This problem occurs due to missing or corrupt partmgr.sys file. It is a Microsoft Partition Management Driver file that is used to manage Windows hard drive partitions. Due to its corruption the operating system can not read the hard drive partitions and thus can not access them.

This problem ultimately results into partition loss and puts you in need of Partition Recovery. It is the way out of retrieving lost, missing or inaccessible hard drive partitions that is generally performed using Partition Recovery Software.
Partition Recovery Software are easy to use third party applications that allow you to achieve quick and accurate ‘Do It Yourself’ Partition Recovery. For assured Partition Recovery results, you need to opt for powerful Partition Recovery Software.

Hard Drive Failure

Hard drive is the most useful, though unreliable, component of computer system and most of the computer users always try to hide from the fact that hard drive failure can happen anytime. This is for the reason that they take them for granted and don’t expect their failure. On the other hand, some of us do believe that if even a program is hanging up, restarting the system is the sure cure of all such problems, while one can be hard drive failure and instead needs hard drive recovery.

Though this is a fact that a hard drive can survive for years, yet hard drive failure remains the unwanted reality, for the top reasons being moving parts and regular increasing speed of hard drives. So, these hard drives can wear out and the only question is when.

The reason why hard disk recovery is studied as a different concept is the criticality and primary use of hard drive and its data. For the same reasons, hard drive failure is considered worst for the users.

Symptoms of hard drive failure

The pre-warnings of hard drive failure are not always given by failing hard drive, when sometimes the corresponding error messages may appear and sometimes not. The most usual signs are clicking or scratching sounds, while others, lower in ratings, include degrading system performance and unexpected behavior.

Precautions

If your hard drive is emanating unusual sounds, you need to immediately plug off the system in order to preserve the hard drive recovery probability. Also, this is not recommended to attempt repairs by own as opening the failed hard drive in the common surroundings invite dust particles which are never taken as good by internals and create obstacles in hard disk recovery. The dust particles can disrupt the balance of hard drive as its internals are made with precision and so their tolerance level decreases to an extent so as not to stand such particles. Only Clean Rooms prove suitable to get the hard drive opened.

Hard drive recovery

The verities that the data is important for any organization and hard drives tend to fail led to think about inventing hard disk recovery tool and resulted into what we call as hard drive recovery service. Also known as data recovery service, this is a help offered by experts of the industry. The hard drive recovery technicians know the correct ways to deal with failed internals and recover data with safety. The services are provided through Clean Rooms, where experts apply the suitable set of tools and hard disk recovery procedures.

Human Errors Result in Data Loss

Human ErrorsOne of the major reasons for data loss is human errors. Human errors combined with system issues contribute to more than seventy percent of data loss issues and hence require precise data recovery. The main issues that occur due to human errors are:

Improper Backup

The most important reason for a data loss issue is when a user fails to incorporate the correct backup measures or doesn’t take the backup at all due to space, time or effort issues. If the user does regular data backup and saves it on a storage device like an external hard drive, the chances of data loss reduce to the minimum.

Installation of Anti-virus

Most of the users install antivirus software and even complete security suites with antivirus and more applications to avoid any malicious applications. These applications may be viruses, worms, malware, spyware, adware etc. which can infect systems. The data loss is only caused by viruses. The viruses generally corrupt or update the files like office documents on the infected computers. The worms are less harmful as they don’t cause any real data loss but performance degradation which mostly requires a clean reinstall. Many users forget to update such software, which in turn may result as virus infection and thus data loss. I t can be taken care of by Data Recovery Software.

Panic in disaster recovery situations

It is common for many of us to panic during the disaster recovery situations. The disasters may be broadly categorized as: Physical failures viz. hardware issues, Logical failures viz. operating system, file system issues, application server etc. and Natural disasters viz. Earthquakes, Floods etc.

Accidental deletion of files and folders

Sometimes accidentally emptying the Recycle bin or performing a Shift and Delete operation can also result in data loss.

Most of the users are not equipped to handle the above cases and therefore require either a Data Recovery expert or effective Data Recovery Software. A Data Recovery expert is a professional that comes into picture when a physical crash occurs on the storage device. These experts have rich industrial experience and can recover data even in cases like complete server storage crash. On the other hand, Data Recovery Software are used in logical crash cases. Such Data recovery software employ advanced scanning algorithms to completely recover the lost data.

Get Data Back How?????????

Data RecoveryAccording to a survey, almost 93% of organizations that have lost their important data due to certain kind of disasters, filed for the insolvency within one year. This is a surprising figure and it actually puts the worth of data in the perspective.

Keep in mind that the data does not essentially has to be an expensive design, or proprietary application development, it could be as simple as emails, documents, spreadsheets, customer databases etc. Without these files, it is tough for several organizations to survive.

If your critical data is missing, the very first thing that you should do is to be calm. Being frustrated will not help at all. You have to consider the actual worth of your data. What has got lost? How long will it take to recover the data? How long could your business survive without this data?

All of the above questions and their consequent answers would help you to put the price tag on your data. It will really help you in considering which data should be recovered first.

Knowing the answers of all these questions would help you to understand the procedure of Hard Drive Recovery. Generally people keep using the system when they lose their data, but it is not recommended. It might overwrite your data and may separate it for life.

After data loss, your first step should be to identify the type of data loss. If the data loss is due to logical problems like file system corruption, operating system corruption, hard drive formatting and so forth, you should find out a powerful Hard Drive Recovery Software.

Data Recovery Software are advanced tools, which allow you to systematically scan your hard drive and extract as much data as possible. Most of the Hard Drive Recovery Software are very easy to use and thus you can perform Do It Yourself Data Recovery.
