Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack is an upgrade to Windows 2000 that protects the information by using 128-bit encryption technique. While this upgrade can not be uninstalled, a startup error message after the upgrade can result into complete loss of hard drive data. The best and the easiest way to overcome such data loss situations is by restoring the data from an updated backup. However, if no backup is available or backup falls short to restore the desired information, then you will need to use effective data recovery software that provides complete recovery of data.

Consider a practical scenario, where you encounter the below error message when you restart your system after installing the Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack:

“Lsass.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point EqualDomainSid could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll.”

Furthermore, you receive another error message after you click OK:

“System Shutdown This system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by \
Time before shutdown: 00:00:59
Message
The system process 'C:\WINNT\System32\Lsass.exe' terminated unexpectedly with status code 128. The system will now shut down and restart.”

Data stored in your system hard drive becomes inaccessible after the above error message appears.

Cause:

The root cause for the occurrence of the above error message is installation of Windows 2000 High Encryption Pack.

Resolution:

To resolve the above error message and access the data, you will need to start your computer system by using Windows 2000recovery console. Once your system restarts, you will need to replace the Advapi32.dll file with the old Advapi32.dll file. However, if the recovery console CD is not available, or the CD is unable to start your system, then the best way is to reinstall Windows 2000. A fresh reinstall of Windows 2000 will boot your system, but will also erase all the data saved on your hard drive partition. For complete recovery of data after reinstalling Windows 2000, you will need to opt for advanced data recovery software.

Such Data Recovery applications are designed by highly technical engineers and ensure complete recovery of data in almost all logical data loss scenarios. These data recovery tools are built with highly graphical user-interface that makes them easy to understand without any prior technical knowledge.
