Any one found error message after installing Tivoli Storage Manager Software

In most of the cases, your system requires a restart after you install modern utility or application suites and even service packs for the same. In such situations, you might encounter a STOP error message due to incompatibility of the installed software with your system. Such STOP error messages further create data inaccessibility issues by halting the boot process. To successfully restore your lost data, you should use an updated (and preferably validated) backup. However, if no backup is available or backup fails to restore required data, you need to opt for advanced Data Recovery Software.

After you install Tivoli Storage Manager software on your Windows based system, you may receive the below error message when you restart your computer:

“STOP: 0x000000B8 (0x00000000, 0x00000001, 0x00000002, 0x00000003)
ATTEMPTED_SWITCH_FROM_DPC”

The four parameters in the error message differ with computer’s configuration

The above error message stops the booting process and makes the data inaccessible.

Cause:

The above STOP error message is mainly caused by the Adsmscsi.sys driver in Storage Manager. If you analyze the dump file, you see that the Tivoli Storage Manager driver is calling KeDelayExecutionThread inside of a Deferred Procedure Call (DPC). To prevent the occurrence of the above error message, always install an updated version of Tivoli Storage Manager software that is compatible with Windows.

Resolution:

To resolve the above issue and access data, you will need to follow below steps:

  1. Start your system in Safe Mode. This prevents the invalid driver from loading as the system starts with minimal system files and drivers.
  2. Once you are in Safe Mode, disable the below Tivoli services:

· TSM Scheduler

· TSM Server1

· ADSM Server

However, if you encounter the same error message even after disabling the Tivoli services, the best option left is to reinstall Windows operating system. A clean reinstall of Windows operating system will erase all data from the selected hard drive partition. In such data loss scenarios, you need to use advanced Data Recovery Software. These Data Recovery Tools perform complete scan of your formatted hard drive partition by using advanced scanning algorithms. Such recovery applications provide a user-friendly experience through their simple, graphical and self-descriptive interface.
