Rectifying “STOP: 0x00000006” Error Message in Windows XP and 2000

The term STOP error is primarily used by NT-based Windows operating systems. These errors occur after the operating system encounters critical issues due to hardware or software based problems. Such problems can be summarized as operating system corruption, file system issues, driver incompatibility, virus infection etc. One of the common software corruption issues responsible for the occurrence of a STOP error message is corruption of device drivers. A STOP error message caused due to the above problem results in unmountable boot volume and data inaccessibility. In such situations, to successfully restore the lost data, you should use an updated backup. In case of no backup availability, backup not up-to-date or corruption, you need to use advanced Windows Data Recovery tools

As a practical instance, while starting a Windows XP or Windows 2000 based computer, you can receive any of the below error messages:

STOP: 0x00000006
Beginning dump of physical memory
Physical memory dump complete
.

Contact your system administrator or technical support group for further
assistance
.

Or

STOP: 0x00000006 (0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

INVALID_PROCESS_DETACH_ATTEMPT

The operating system bootup process gets halted and data saved in the hard drive becomes inaccessible after any of the above STOP error messages appear.

Problem Might be:
  • Corruption or damage of device drivers. A device driver can be damaged due to improper system shutdown, operating system malfunctioning, software bugs and more.
  • The error message can also occur if Windows operating system incorrectly queues a kernel Asynchronous Procedure Call (APC) function, also known as a completion routine.
Most Possible Solution:
For complete resolution of the above STOP 0x00000006 error message, you need to follow these steps:

  • Use “Last Known Good Configuration” option from Windows Advanced Options menu to boot your system as it is a special mode to undo new registry and driver changes.
  • Rollback device driver to version prior to your driver update.
  • Use System Restore to undo new computer alterations.
  • Apply the Hotfix solution offered by Microsoft.
However, if the above measures fall short of rectifying the STOP error message, then you need to go for a clean reinstall of the operating system. A clean reinstall erases all the partition data and installs a fresh copy of the operating system. For systematic recovery of all the previously saved files, you need to use powerful recovery tools. Such data recovery tools perform absolute scan on the formatted hard drive by incorporating high end scanning algorithms. With highly interactive graphical user interface, these data recovery tools are easy to understand without any prior technical knowledge.
