0x000000c5 Error Message during Windows XP bootup

A STOP error message can come during Windows bootup or after a user logs on and performs various tasks (as driver update, file download from internet and more). STOP errors halt the normal functioning of your computer system. A STOP error message appears only on Windows NT based operating systems (as Windows 2000, XP, 2003 & Vista) and can be caused by both software and hardware issues. In most cases, a STOP error message is usually identified by an 8-digit hexadecimal number. The major consequences of a STOP error message are unmountable volume and inaccessible data. To overcome these data related issues, the most effective way is to restore data from latest backup. However, if you have not maintained any backup or it falls short of restoring the lost data, then you should use advanced Data Recovery application.

Consider a practical instance, where you install Ahead Nero 6.3.1.17 on your Windows XP-based computer. After the installation process is complete, you restart the system. When you restart the system, you encounter the below STOP error message:

Stop Error: 0*000000C5 (parameter1, Parameter2, Parameter3, Parameter4) Beginning Dump of Physical Memory!”

The above error message might also appear as:

“0x000000C5: DRIVER_CORRUPTED_EXPOOL”

Data stored in the hard drive becomes inaccessible after any of the above error messages appear. In addition, you encounter the same error message each time you attempt to boot the system.

Reason:

The core reason behind occurrence of the above error message is corruption of system pool by device drivers. To prevent the above error message, always install an updated version of the software available on manufacturer’s website.

Solution:

To resolve the above issue and access data, you should take these actions:

  • Uninstall Ahead Nero 6.3.1.17 from your system.
  • Install the latest service pack of Windows XP operating system.

However, if you still encounter any of the above STOP 0xC5 error messages, then you should reinstall Windows XP operating system. A clean reinstall will erase all data from the selected partition. For complete recovery and restoration of lost files and folders after formatting the drive, you should use advanced data recovery software. These tools incorporate effective scanning algorithms to recover and restore the lost data from a formatted hard drive.
